While earning his 37th clean sheet for Argentina, a lot of attention continues to be on Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez. The world's No. 1 is someone that is apparently on the radar of Manchester United in particular.
There are, of course, a lot of these types of reports. If all transfer rumors were to be believed, there would not be anyone left for Unai Emery to manage this upcoming season. While speaking with Canal Sur Radio, as shared by Aston Villa Español Fans, Aston Villa executive Monchi spoke on the future of 'Dibu' at the club.
During that conversation, Monchi let it be known that there were not any offers currently being made for the Villa keeper. That does not mean that there are not talks that are still happening or that there would not be heavy interest. It does seem unlikely, though, that the Spaniard would share something like this if it was not truly the case.
His departure simply would not feel right. Martínez is in his prime and playing at an incredible level. Going somewhere else, especially to Man Utd, would be something that not only looks right but would not fit Dibu's profile that he has established at Villa.
It is unknown what a sizable offer would potentially mean in terms of potentially swaying Martínez to leave Villa. As things stand now, however, it does not look like that is a reality. Even while preparing for the Argentina fixture against Chile, he noted how the summer will leave a lot of possibilities.
Despite reports, staying at Aston Villa looks most likely
He knows that a lot can change on a day-to-day basis. While it may be easy to say that he would not accept any offer, something considerable from a Saudi League-based side, for example, would be difficult for anyone to dismiss without at least considering.
The keeper for now appears to be solidly at Villa. His departure would be hard for supporters to deal with. With any luck, it will take many more seasons before that has to happen.
