PSR and UEFA news should provide comfort for any worried Aston Villa supporters

The latest fine that has been issued from UEFA is far from ideal, considering what was widely believed for Aston Villa; however, the club has managed to go through relatively unscathed. Add the fact that this is something that was known would be coming down the pipeline for a while, and there realistically is not any cause for alarm.

Villa have remained in consistent communication with the entity and have done enough to show how they plan on reducing their salary and deficit amounts.

Combine this latest development with how Villa managed to avoid the worst fears of PSR, and things are going to be able to proceed more or less as normal. The need to lower the current cost of wages remains, of course, but the moves on the periphery, such as the latest move of Philippe Coutinho from BG to Vasco da Gama, could be enough to make it so that Villa will not be forced to do too much else that they otherwise wouldn't do.

Yes, there are certain marks that have to be reached; further breaches could potentially result in something more serious happening later on. With only one infraction and a plan in place to hit the benchmarks by the required time, there realistically is not any reason for concern.

Potential more cautious approach from Aston Villa

If anything, the club should feel emboldened to continue to be active and find ways to strengthen the squad. Granted, there may now be the need to have a little bit of a zero-sum mindset in the immediacy. In other words, if Villa believe a certain player will be able to be brought in to help, then it may also be necessary to move on from someone whose time is about to come to an end.

That approach is typical anyway and isn't too much different from what is seen from sides on a regular basis. All in all, it has been a positive summer despite some of the anxiety levels and quietness surrounding Unai Emery's side.
