For all of the talk of Morgan Rogers playing better in a central role, it appears that whether he is playing for Aston Villa or England, the midfielder will find himself on the right-hand side. Regardless of where he lines up on the pitch, he shows his quality and offers a lot of promise for club and country for fans to continue to look forward to.
Shared by the Aston Villa media page, Andy Townsend spoke on the 22-year-old. A former Villan himself, Townsend shared that Rogers is someone that he has enjoyed watching the most this past season.
That's fair enough. Supporters and former players alike will have their personal favorites to watch. It is what Townsend said next that shows what he truly sees in Rogers. Townsend elaborated, "He has the ability to take this team to a slightly different level."
It is when hearing these types of statements and taking a moment to assess the validity of Townsend's words that it becomes very clear how fortunate Villa are to have such a young talent ready to take the rest of the Premier League by storm.
Already, Villa fans have seen many instances of Rogers being special. Even in the latest England match, it was arguably he among the attacking players who posed one of the bigger threats to Andorra. Although it needs to be said that Noni Madueke looked the livelier of the Thomas Tuchel options for a lot of that World Cup qualifier.
Highly anticipated upcoming year for Aston Villa player
Even so, Rogers is still in his early 20s. As Townsend would go on to mention, the attacking player is only in his infancy at the top level. He joined Villa early in 2024 and has so far done a good job of adjusting to the EPL competition.
Where Unai Emery ends up placing Rogers is going to remain a discussion. It is safe to say many Villa fans will eagerly be awaiting to see how the midfielder continues to develop during the 2025-2026 season.
