Ajax are weighing up a summer move for Aston Villa's young midfield talent, Tim Iroegbunam. The 20-year-old has impressed Ajax scouts in his limited appearances under manager Unai Emery and recently caught their attention yet again during Villa's Europa Conference League clash with the Dutch side.

The England youth international, a product of both West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa's youth systems, is quickly becoming one to watch. He made his Premier League debut with Villa in the 2021/22 season and has shown remarkable growth, including a successful loan spell at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship. During his 32 appearances with QPR, Iroegbunam showcased his dynamic box-to-box midfield style and even contributed two goals.

Ajax, a club famed for its ability to cultivate and showcase young talent, sees Iroegbunam as a perfect fit for their development model. While Aston Villa may face Financial Fair Play issues after recently announcing significant losses, securing Iroegbunam won't be a simple task. His current market value sits around €4 million, but Villa hold him in high regard, reflected in his contract that runs through 2027.

Manager Unai Emery has acknowledged Iroegbunam's potential, particularly after a season-ending ACL injury sidelined first-choice defensive midfielder Boubacar Kamara. This setback could thrust the young midfielder into a more prominent role within the squad.

Iroegbunam is also rising through the ranks internationally, having been instrumental in England's victorious 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship campaign.

With the summer transfer window looming, it remains to be seen whether Ajax will formalise their interest with a bid and if Aston Villa would consider parting with their promising midfielder.

Iroegbunam's performances in the remainder of Villa's season could be the deciding factor in determining his future at Villa Park. Whether he stays or goes, this talented young player is sure to make waves in the world of football.
