Famous 'X' football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that a transfer target of both Aston Villa and Wolves is on the verge of sealing a move to Serie A.
Former RB Salzburg defender Oumar Solet has reached a verbal agreement to sign with Italian club Udinese. The 24-year-old became a free agent earlier this month after he and his club RB Salzburg agreed to mutually terminate his contract. The French centre-back has been linked with a potential move to Aston Villa in their search for greater depth in defence, but any chance of a deal with Solet has now come to an end.
Another popular football journalist Nicolo Schira has claimed that Solet has signed a two-year deal with the club, with the option of a further year. Udinese are owned by Giampaolo Pozzo, who was previously in charge at Watford, before handing ownership to his son Gino in 2014.
Solet, a powerful and physically imposing centre-half, made 106 appearances across his four-year spell in Salzburg including 12 appearances in the UEFA Champions League. With Tyrone Mings on his way back from a serious knee injury and the likes of Matty Cash and Diego Carlos being in and out of the physio room fairly regularly, Solet could have provided a useful extra defender at little cost.
However, Solet has decided to move to Italy and he will now join up with former Aston Villa forward Keinan Davis, who has two goals in 15 appearances for the club. Udinese currently sit third in Serie A, one place ahead of Douglas Luiz's Juventus.
