Aston Villa are interested in a move for Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson this summer, according to a report by TEAMtalk.

Unai Emery's side are being linked with a swoop for the Serie A ace at the end of this season along with fellow Premier League outfit Brentford. Italian clubs Juventus, Inter Milan, Lazio and AC Milan are all also said to be keeping tabs on the Hamilton-born man.

Ferguson, 24, moved to Bologna back in 2022 and has since become one of their most prized assets.

He has made 61 appearances for them since making the switch abroad and has chipped in with 13 goals, six of which have come in this campaign.

The Scotland international, who has 10 caps under his belt for his country to date, was on the books at Rangers' academy as a youngster.

Ferguson left left the Gers for local side Hamilton Academical in 2013 and rose up through their youth ranks. He represented them at various youth levels before breaking into their first-team.

He played only 14 matches before he was lured away by Aberdeen.

The Dons immediately gave him first-team football and he played 169 games for them in all competitions, finding the net on 37 occasions before a move to Italy came about.

Ferguson's decision to head to Bologna has worked wonders for him and he is now being tracked by some big clubs.

Aston Villa could see him as someone to bolster their options in the middle of the park next term.
