Aston Villa ace Douglas Luiz has been urged to join Arsenal this summer by Gilberto Silva.

The midfielder, who has been linked with the Gunners in the past, has been a key player for his current club over recent seasons.

Luiz, who is 25-years-old, made the switch to Villa Park back in 2019 and hasn't looked back.

He has made 192 appearances for the Midlands outfit in all competitions and has chipped in with 22 goals, 10 of which have come this term as Unai Emery's side currently sit 4th in the table as they eye a place in the Champions League.

'Great move for him'...

Gilberto Silva thinks he should move on in the next window to Arsenal though. He has told CaughtOffSide: “I think he’ll be expensive because he’s in good form. I am just happy to see another Brazilian doing a great job in the Premier League.

“Any top club would want him right now, so why not Arsenal? I think it would be a great move for the club and for him as well.”

Prior to his move to Aston Villa, Luiz was on the books of fellow top flight outfit Manchester City after they snapped him up as a youngster from Vasco de Gama. However, he never played for the first-team at the Etihad Stadium.

Instead, he gained experience out on loan in La Liga at Girona to get some experience under his belt before heading out the exit door of the current European champions on a permanent basis.
