Aston Villa's Premier League rivals Crystal Palace have appointed Oliver Glasner as their new manager.
The Eagles have turned to the Austrian as their replacement for Roy Hodgson as they look to avoid relegation to the Championship.
Glasner, 49, was in attendance as his new club drew 1-1 away at Everton last night at Goodison Park. Jordan Ayew scored their goal.
He has told Crystal Palace's official club website: “I am very happy to join Crystal Palace F.C. as manager. I am looking forward to working with the talented squad, meeting the club’s supporters and experiencing the Selhurst Park atmosphere I have heard so much about. It has been a pleasure to meet with Steve and Dougie, and I am looking forward to working with them to achieve our goals.”
The Eagles' Chairman Steve Parish added: “I’m delighted to welcome Oliver to the club. He has an outstanding record, and we believe he is the right manager to take the club forward at this pivotal stage.
“Wherever Oliver has gone so far in his managerial journey, success has been quick to follow, and we believe his ambition, as well as his exciting and attacking approach, is the perfect fit for getting the most from our talented young squad in the remainder of this Premier League season and beyond.”
Glasner managed SV Ried and LASK in his native country before moving to Germany.
He then had a spell at Wolfsburg before rocking up at former club Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021.
The Schärding-born man guided them to the Europa League title in 2022 after they beat Rangers in the final.
Aston Villa face Crystal Palace on the final day of the campaign on 19th May at Villa Park.
