Aston Villa have once again entered the transfer market with a bold attempt to sign Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku, potentially disrupting Napoli's plans in the process.

Under the leadership of manager Unai Emery and Director of Football Monchi, Aston Villa have already demonstrated significant ambition this summer. The Villans are gearing up for their upcoming Champions League campaign, and the potential acquisition of Lukaku could be a game-changer.

Lukaku, currently on Chelsea's books, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Inter Milan and Roma. With a remarkable 121 Premier League goals to his name, the 31-year-old striker is a tantalising prospect for Villa, who are keen to bolster their attacking options. Lukaku has two years left on his contract with Chelsea, who are eager to offload him after signing him for a hefty £97.5 million three years ago.

Emery has already added eight new faces to the squad, including Amadou Onana from Everton and Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Despite these acquisitions, the hunt for a top-tier striker continues, with Lukaku emerging as a prime target. Villa are reportedly working behind the scenes to outmanoeuvre Napoli and secure Lukaku's services according to Calcio Napoli 24.

The situation is further complicated by Lukaku's potential move to Napoli, where he could reunite with his former coach Antonio Conte. This move could also facilitate Chelsea's pursuit of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, who has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for over a year. Chelsea are reportedly willing to sell Lukaku for around £34 million, a significant reduction from his original signing fee.

Lukaku's own preferences could play a crucial role in the final decision. Reports suggest he is more inclined towards a move to Napoli. However, the allure of Champions League football and a chance to prove his critics wrong in the Premier League might sway him towards Villa Park.

Should Villa's pursuit of Lukaku not come to fruition, the club have alternative options lined up. Tammy Abraham, another striker with Chelsea ties, has been linked with a return to Villa Park. Roma, Abraham's current club, are reportedly open to selling the forward for £21 million due to financial constraints.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's ongoing discussions with Atletico Madrid to secure Samu Omorodion indicate their urgency to move Lukaku on sooner rather than later. Villa fans are hopeful that their team can land the Belgian forward and make a significant statement in the upcoming Champions League season.

Whether Lukaku ultimately opts for Villa Park or Napoli, Aston Villa's ambitious transfer strategy is clear, and fans are eagerly anticipating what the future holds for their team. With Moussa Diaby departing for the Saudi Pro League, adding another forward could be a shrewd move for Villa.
