Aston Villa open to letting defender head out the exit door

Aston Villa will let Calum Chambers leave the club before the end of the transfer window if the right offer comes in for his services amid interest in him from elsewhere, as per a report by Football Insider.
The former Arsenal man is currently down the pecking order at Villa Park and a potential exit would free up space and funds in their squad to bring in further reinforcements as they chase down the top two Liverpool and Manchester City.
Chambers, 28, joined Aston Villa back in 2022 from the Gunners and has since made 31 appearances in all competitions.
He provides useful competition and depth to their defensive department but there isn't much point paying him to sit on the bench if they can use the funds to bring in other players who are going to boost their squad.
The ex-England international, who made three caps for the Three Lions, is a product of the Southampton academy and burst into their first-team as a youngster before catching the eye of Arsenal.
Chambers moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2014 and spent eight years in London, some of which he spent out on loan at Middlesbrough and Fulham, before linking up with Aston Villa.
