According to Birmingham Live, Aston Villa has been offered the chance to sign Turkey international Yusuf Yazici. Once tipped to be the Mesut Ozil of Turkish football, the 27-year-old is looking for a new club after leaving Lille at the end of last season.

Now a free agent, the former Lille and Trabzonspor midfielder is well-known to Villa after scoring against them in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final last season. However, Aston Villa is not the only one linked to his signing. According to HITC, Yazici has also been lined up by the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, and Newcastle.

Player profile

Yazici is a player who tends to play as an attacking midfielder, capable of playing through the middle or on the right-hand side. By scoring 12 goals and producing four assists across all competitions for Lille last season, Yazici possesses a strong goalscoring threat. His physical size, similar to that of Morgan Rogers, means he is difficult to take the ball away from.

His footwork is also excellent, and he possesses a great ability to drive forward with the ball. Along with his impressive vision to pick out his team-mates he is a quality midfield player. He also isn't afraid to shoot from long range.

Hitting double figures in three separate seasons and scoring a career-best 14 back in 2020/21, he has an excellent eye for goal. Yazici has also scored hattricks in the Europa League against top clubs like AC Milan and it is therefore clear he can perform at a very high level.

Yazici also has 45 international caps to his name.

""Yusuf Yazici is an amazing No 10. We have a lot of similarities. His left foot, his position, his close passing, and his calmness on the ball. We will see Yusuf at a big European club in the future.""
