Aston Villa offer bumper new five-year contract to promising attacker

Aston Villa have offered a new contract to attacker Rory Wilson, according to reporter Fabrizio Romano on X.
The Premier League side are keen to tie down the youngster to a long-term contract to fend off interest from elsewhere in his signature.
Wilson, 16, is highly-rated by the Midlands outfit and is being tipped for a bright future in the game.
His performances at development level have alerted the attention of other clubs and he has a decision to make on his future.
Romano has posted: "Aston Villa have offered a new five year contract to Rory Wilson.
"He’s scored 36 goals in 42 games so far this season for club and country; current deal expires in 2025.
"Cross border training compensation will be €270,000 summer 2025, monitored by many clubs."
Losing Wilson at such a young age would be a big blow for Aston Villa so they will be hoping he puts pen-to-paper on their offer.
He is someone who they will be looking to help progress into the first-team picture over the next couple of years.
The forward made the move down to England back in 2022 following his exit from Rangers.
At the time, Aston Villa's academy manager Mark Harrison said: "We are delighted that Rory has joined us having had a number of clubs interested in signing him. He is a goalscorer with a lot of potential, having also represented Scotland at international youth level.
"He has a real good thirst and mentality to want to improve and we really look forward to seeing how he develops with us and hopefully, in years to come, play for our first team.”
