Aston Villa are being linked with a swoop for Aberdeen youngster Fletcher Boyd, according to the Daily Record (live transfer blog, 26.01.24, 11.45).

Unai Emery's side are reportedly interested in luring the teenager down to England along with fellow Premier League outfit Arsenal.

Boyd, 16, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and his current club risk losing him amid interest from down the border. They lost prospect Lewis Pirie to Leeds United last summer and could be poised to see another starlet head out the exit door now too.

Aston Villa could see the Scotland youth international, who is an attacking midfielder, Tas a player for their development ranks and as someone who could potentially break into their senior team down the line.

Boyd has been on the books at Aberdeen for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks. He is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Scottish Premiership outfit.

The Dons' academy has been known to produce some decent talent over recent times such as Calvin Ramsay, Ryan Fraser, Scott McKenna and Lawrence Shankland, among others, and Boyd could be one of the next to make the step up.

Aston Villa will always be looking out for potential future stars as they look to prepare for the campaigns that lie ahead of them. For now, their focus will be on finishing as high as they possibly can in the top flight as they sit five points off the top.
