Newcastle United, Everton and Fulham are also keen on Aston Villa target Lewis Ferguson at Bologna, according to a report by GiveMeSport.

Unai Emery's side have identified the Serie A ace as a potential transfer target ahead of the summer but they will have to see off competition from some fellow Premier League sides if they are to win the race for his signature.

Aston Villa could see him as someone to boost their options in the middle of the park next term. He is a Scotland international teammate of John McGinn's.

Ferguson, who is 24-years-old, made the move over to Italy back in 2022 and hasn't looked back since. His contract expires in June 2027 meaning his current club are under no pressure to cash in on him anytime soon and can wait for the right offer to arrive for his services.

The Hamilton-born man had a spell in the academy at Rangers before he was released by the Glasgow giants in 2013 after four years there.

He then joined Hamilton Academical and broke into their first-team as a youngster before Aberdeen lured him away.

Ferguson then became a key player for the Dons and made 169 appearances for them in all competitions, chipping in with 37 goals.

A move abroad then came about for him and it has turned out to be a great transfer for him. He has played 61 times for Bologna and has fired in 13 goals to attract the attention of Aston Villa and others.
