Aston Villa fans have been very excited for the European Championships to end. This isn't because the standard of the tournament wasn't high enough or England's poor performances instigated this feeling, it's because it was announced the new kit release would come in the days following the end of the tournament.

Following the announcement towards the end of last season that Villa had agreed a multi-year partnership with sportswear giants Adidas becoming the club's official kit partner, fans have been eagerly awaiting glimpses of the new kit.

The announcements of new signings like Lewis Dobbin and Ross Barkley at the start of the window allowed fans to get a sneak peak with the players donning some Adidas training gear. Now that the Villa squad have returned to training there have been more sightings of the new training kit and Wednesday's match against Walsall saw Villa play in an Adidas kit for the first time.

However, going into the game there was a sense of confusion about the kit the team would play in as the new kits had not yet been announced or released. As a result, the club announced on the day of the game that the team would be playing in a one-off white kit that would be auctioned off for charity after the match.

After months of speculating, a date has now been set for the official launch of next season's kit.

With Aston Villa playing in the UEFA Champions League next season fans are more excited than every to get their hands on the new kit ahead of what should be a special year for the club.

Aston Villa cut ties with previous kit partners Castore following issues with the manufacturing of the shirts. Players famously complained that the shirts were too tight and created a 'wet look' that meant they were uncomfortable to play in. As a result, and in Villa's bid to generate greater revenue, Villa president Chris Heck turned to Adidas to resolve the kit issue and grow the profile of the club.

There will be many keeping a close eye on Aston Villa's social media accounts on Tuesday awaiting for the announcement and release of the new kit. Many, like myself, I'm sure will be happy to hand their money over to the club to get their hands on the new merchandise.
