Aston Villa dealt blow on the injury front
By Harry Mail
Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has said Ezri Konsa faces 'three or four' weeks on the sidelines.
The defender, who is 26-years-old, picked up a knee injury in the last match away at Sheffield United.
His manager has said, as per the official club website: "Ezri is injured. He has a knee sprain and is not going to be available. I don’t know, three or four weeks more or less."
In terms of other team news, Pau Torres should make the bench tomorrow against Chelsea in their FA Cup replay. Meanwhile, Jhon Duran and Lucas Digne remain out of action.
Konsa's absence will be a big blow over the coming weeks. He has been a huge player for Aston Villa during the first-half of this season.
He has made 33 appearances already in this campaign, 23 of which have come in the league, and Emery will have a decision to make as to who to bring in for him as cover whilst he recovers.
The former England youth international is a product of the Charlton Athletic academy and played 86 times for their first-team before switching to fellow London club Brentford.
Konsa then spent a year with the Bees before making the move to Villa Park under former boss Dean Smith.
He has since become one of the club's most prized assets and has played 171 games to date, chipping in with six goals from the back. The centre-back is out injured now though which isn't ideal ahead of the Chelsea match.
