Aston Villa centre-back delivers honest verdict on draw away at West Ham
By Harry Mail
Aston Villa defender Pau Torres has admitted they were satisfied with a point in the end against West Ham.
Unai Emery's side drew 1-1 with the Hammers at the London Stadium. The hosts led 1-0 at half-time after Michail Antonio's first-half goal.
The visitors went in search of an equaliser in the second-half and finally got on through attacker Nicolo Zaniolo.
Aston Villa weren't able to find an equaliser in the end but were left relatively pleased with getting a point. It keeps them in 4th position in the table and three points above Tottenham Hotspur in 5th.
Take the point
Speaking afterwards, Torres said, as per the official club website: “At the beginning of the game, always, we wanted to win.
“But you have to see how the match is going.
"They were in front of us in the first half, we tried everything in the second half.
“I think the team were better in the second half.
“At the end we’re still in fourth position, now only nine games I think to finish, and this point is important for us.”
He added: “We’re fourth in the league, we’re working from the beginning of the season to be in this position at this moment.
“So, we’re happy.
“We’re in the quarter-finals of the Conference League, which is important for us.
“The most important is to play, we’re working in a good way and the best is coming.”
Aston Villa are back in action on Saturday 30th March with a clash against Wolves at home as they look to keep their momentum going. In the meantime, they will be using the international break as a chance to rest and recover.
