Aston Villa boss Unai Emery believes Chelsea were more 'clinical' than his side after they were knocked out of the FA Cup last night.
They were beaten 3-1 by their fellow Premier League side at Villa Park.
The Blues stormed into a 2-0 lead after just 20 minutes after goals by Conor Gallagher and Nicholas Jackson.
Aston Villa were 2-0 down at half-time and weren't able to get back into the game after the interval. Enzo Fernandesz made it 3-0 on 54 minutes to seal the deal.
The hosts were able to pull a goal back late on through winger Moussa Diaby. However, the game was done by then.
Unai Emery delivered his verdict on the match afterwards and said, as per the official club website: “I’m disappointed we didn’t get a good result.
“We did good effort and got a good result in Chelsea, so we were very excited and motivated for the match tonight here with our supporters.
“We started very well and were creating chances, being close to score. They created chances and they were more clinical than us.
“In the second half we didn’t start like the first half and found it difficult to create clear chances. They scored the one chance they had with their set piece.
“At 3-0, it was very difficult but our spirit was good and we reacted by creating chances. We were pushing with our supporters here to get a goal and have options to get the result back.
“We scored so late and didn’t have time to get more.”
Aston Villa will be keen to return to winning ways in the league this weekend as they take on Manchester United. They remain in a strong position after their 5-0 win away at Sheffield United last weekend.
