For the longest time, many assumed Emiliano Martínez would leave Aston Villa, paving the way for Lucas Chevalier to join Unai Emery's side from Lille. Instead, it appears that PSG are looking to secure the keeper's services.

Fans everywhere saw just how dominant Gianluigi Donnarumma can be. For PSG making this move following what was an excellent display throughout all competitions from the Italian speaks to a general point of disagreement.

Some believe that a club should do its best to keep any and all of the key pieces on the roster, even if that means sometimes missing out on younger, up-and-coming talent.

The other perspective is one that views it as critical to always be on the lookout for 'the next' prospect at all times. This comes, though, at the expense of no longer being able to keep those that have already been a part of the club. In the case of Donnarumma, his impact on the club that ultimately led to the treble-winning season for PSG cannot be fully measured.

Changes happening outside of Aston Villa

Remember, too, most of the talk this summer was about how Villa would need to add Chevalier, with the multitude of reports indicating that Martínez would leave for United. Instead, 'Dibu' is firmly remaining in the claret and blue. A team like United could end up being the beneficiaries of a Chevalier move to PSG, however. Donnarumma is certainly still a top-class keeper, and he would be an excellent addition to any side.

Regardless of what happens elsewhere, Villa have the right person standing between the posts for them. After a summer full of rumors, it is now Emery who will carry over from last season at the keeper position, with everyone else reshuffling their deck.
