Aston Villa are back in action on Sunday when they face Newcastle United away from home in the Premier League. Unai Emery's men were superb during the week, thrashing Fenerbahce 6-0 in what was a record Champions League win for the club.
Villa have really turned a corner of late, but this Newcastle side are desperate to improve on a frustrating start, and it's never easy at St James' Park. Here we round up all the latest injury news ahead of this game.
Ewan Jaouen - Out
Matthias Jaissle said last week: "Ewen will be out for two months with a hamstring injury."
Tino Livramento - Out
Livramento will remain out for a couple of weeks yet. Jaissle has said: "With Tino, we need to be cautious, and we don't rush him. We know about his injury situation and history but we're optimistic in the next few weeks we can bring him back step by step."
Jacob Ramsey - Out
Jaissle said ahead of this game: "With JJ, it's a bit different. He's making progress. Hopefully, next week, he can join in partially in training, and then we can build it from there."
Anthony Elanga - Out
Elanga is hoping to return from his hamstring issue in the next few weeks. Jaissle has said: "Unfortunately, he's been out for many, many weeks. Now, it's the process is to bring him back slowly but surely in a smart way and not too much in a hurry. Hopefully, next week, he is about to train again with the group, at least partially, and we then integrate him again step-by-step."
Bazoumana Traore - Doubt
Jaissle said on Thursday: "Bazou seems to be much better. We're happy for that, [as] it didn't look well during the match. He's progressing well in the last few days, so hopefully, he is able to join the group on Saturday."
Amadou Onana - Out
Onana is out for the season after rupturing his ACL during the World Cup over the summer.
Matteo Ruggeri - Out
Ruggeri has picked up a muscular issue that will see him miss a few weeks. Emery has said: "We don’t know exactly how long it’s going to be, but it will be some weeks that he’s going to be out, more than one month."
Ian Maatsen - Out
Maatsen looks set to miss this one, but he could be available next week. Emery has said: "Maatsen is not yet available. I think, the way he is getting better, he should be joining us in a few days or a week, so it’s positive."
Modou Cisse - Doubt
Cisse is back in training. This could come too soon for him, but he has not been ruled out.
George Hemmings - Doubt
Emery has said: "George Hemmings is still being with a small pain - not for tomorrow, but maybe on Saturday he can come back."
Brian Madjo - Doubt
It's hoped Madjo can be available here.
