Marcus Rashford is someone who has received a lot of unnecessary grief as a player. Even during his successful loan spell at Aston Villa, there was still a significant portion of fans in general who voiced their opinion that the attacker's stint in B6 was underwhelming.
This is something of a silly take. Rashford had a great time and revived himself as a player while at Villa. His contributions and quality provided the needed boost for Unai Emery's side during that point of the season. Although other clubs did not latch on to the opportunity to sign him from Manchester United, the England international raised his stock by virtue of his playing well in the claret and blue.
Case in point, Rashford was once again called up to the England squad under new manager Thomas Tuchel. Considering how things were going at United, it is highly doubtful that this would have happened had he remained as a member of Ruben Amorim's side.
As shared on X by Jay, Rashford shared how much his time at Villa meant to him. During his sit-down conversation, Rashford even mentioned how he is playing well and feels much better as a player. He also acknowledged how this may not have been possible if he had not gone on loan at that particular point in his career or if he had joined a different team.
Support from Aston Villa supporters
Many fans, particularly supporters of United, continue to view Rashford as someone who is not living up to his potential. Among Villa supporters, however, he is appreciated, and the ability that he possesses could be seen while he was a Villan.
What remains in the cards for him remains to be seen. Any further success or increased form will largely be able to be attributed to how Rashford played at Villa.
