What could have been, If it were not for PSR and SCR, it is safe to assume that Douglas Luiz would have already been at Aston Villa by now. Instead, through an unfortunate series of events, the Brazilian will join Nottingham Forest on loan from Juventus. As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the deal also includes an obligation to buy the player following the conclusion of the loan arrangement.
To now see Luiz joining Nottingham and not reuniting with Unai Emery in B6 is a true shame and flies in the face of the spirit of the opportunity that was provided through his falling out with Juventus.
For Luiz, this provides a chance for him to take a more positive step in his career after his move to Serie A did not work out the way that the midfielder would have intended.
Upon his return to the Premier League, this will now set up a match in which Luiz does indeed come back to Villa Park. It will be odd to see him not in the claret and blue at VP.
Near return to Aston Villa
This is something that should not have come to fruition. If Villa were to operate under regular conditions without the newer guidelines that inherently seek to limit the ability of any and all clubs that are not a part of the 'big six.' Fans have been robbed of what would have been a tremendous reunion for the midfielder. Now, he is back in the EPL on a side that is also looking to shatter the current glass that limits any side outside of the 'big six.' It should have, however, been Romano giving the 'here we go' for a second Villa stint for Luiz.
Either way, it is safe to say that when Luiz does return to Villa Park, he will receive a tremendous amount of appreciation and gratitude for what he did well at Villa.
