For a fee that is reportedly on the lower end of things, Aston Villa signing Marco Asensio permanently to the club appears feasible. The potential issue would be a question of what the Spaniard's wages would look like and affect the team sheet.

Depending on what happens on the financial front, Asensio could see himself remaining at Villa for the 2025-2026 season. He has had tremendous moments. Throughout his time since arriving from PSG, he has shown why he is a world-class talent.

Critics and naysayers will, of course, point to the lack of goals during some of the bigger matches. In fairness to Asensio, that is something that can be said of the squad as a whole.

Winning and playing well against the best teams has to be what is ultimately measured against. It does come, naturally, with a challenge. The opposing starting XI and backline are trying their best to prevent the attack from scoring.

It takes something special on most occasions to get past defenders, especially at the higher levels of play. That is something that Asensio possesses that other players at Villa and otherwise do not have within their skill set to the same degree that the Spaniard does.

Depending on what is potentially agreed to, if finances allow for it, this needs to happen.

Where there is a potential struggle point to overcome is how Asensio's inclusion with AVFC for another year would affect Morgan Rogers. That is a valid concern, and the England international is one of the EPL's emerging young players. If it comes to it, his development should take something of a priority.

The issue at hand is Asensio playing in the No. 10 role while seeing Rogers, then forced to play on the right. In truth, there could be something of an easy solution in that regard.

Short time together at Aston Villa has a lot of potential

It was only since February that the Spaniard was introduced to the squad. Unai Emery has previously expressed his desire to get more creative, like when he mentioned playing Ollie Watkins and Marcus Rashford in a two-striker system.

Having talent affords a manager more and better options. With a full training camp and both Rogers and Asensio being more familiar with how they play, there is foreseeably a better chance of both players being able to be effective and produce for Villa.

How that looks is unknown at the moment. Given some more time, Emery and the two Villans will find a way to make it work.
