It was never going to be easy. Aston Villa managed to come from behind and gain a crucial set of three points. At one point the club was in the relegation zone. As things stand as of now in the Premier League, the club is now comfortably within striking distance of a spot in Europe.
This has, of course, come as a result of Unai Emery's side's ability to persevere and create momentum where there was seemingly none to be had.
Villa have done well to build off their latest run of form and establish the needed presence to once again contend for a Champions League spot.
The latest match against Tottenham Hotspur showed a side that can get the needed result against a 'so-called' top six club. Despite all of the obstacles that have been placed in the way of Villa, the club is now in a firm position to once again compete for a spot to represent an English club on the European stage come the next season.
It has, of course, been far from easy sledding. The way, though, in which Villa have been able to combat all of the factors that are working against the side only shows the type of fight and tenacity that is present in Bodymoor.
There are a number of important matches ahead, including a critical Europa League match against the Eredivisie side Go Ahead Eagles.
It will now be up to the Villa boss to continue to replicate the winning efforts that ensure the full complement of points across all competitions.
The Villa boss has certainly made his adjustments and has stated his desired goals in the past. It remains to be seen what comes of the Spaniards intentions.
