It's an unfortunate part of the sport, but injuries happen. For Aston Villa, missing out on Youri Tielemans for the rest of the year is clearly an enormous blow to the side. From such moments, opportunities arise for others. Fortunately for Villa, the team is constructed to withstand someone as instrumental as the Belgian better than any other club in the world.
In particular, this development provides an interesting dynamic for Boubacar Kamara. His current deal with Villa is not set to expire until 2027. The general belief, however, is that his camp and AVFC are in contract negotiations, looking to secure something long-term before the current one expires.
It's reasonable enough to believe that this will be helped through Villa finding a way to play in Champions League next season. That is the biggest stage for club activities. The Premier League is the most difficult challenge in the sport, but CL, hearing the opening competition theme and competing against the best in all of Europe, has a set of prestige of its own.
Consequently, the best players and most ambitious athletes want to play in the top European tournament. It doesn't hurt the club either in terms of revenue.
Considering Tielemans will be out, most likely for the remaining EPL fixtures, Kamara has something of a unique opportunity to directly impact his immediate future. If his continued stay beyond the current contract is dependent on playing in Champions League, there wouldn't be a better way to help secure that desire than to secure three more wins to end the season.
Even then, it may not be enough for Villa considering where they currently are in the standings, but nine points from nine would clearly go a long way.
Talented midfield option for Aston Villa
As is, Kamara is one of the better midfield options that any club could turn to. In a vacuum, it would be an automatic instant decision to have the Frenchman stay at Villa well past 2027. Among a series of upcoming club decisions, his will be one of them.
A strong finish to the 2024-2025 campaign and the ability to keep all parties happy become that much easier.
