Supporters of the Aston Villa Women have witnessed firsthand how incredible of a player Rachel Daly is. Arriving in 2022, the forward has done well to spearhead the Villa attack and continues to prove herself to be one of the best striker options in the WSL.
June 14 saw Daly announced as one of the people selected and named for one of the King’s Birthday Honours. The Villa attacker is now appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
Until recently, when she was not playing for her club, Daly was fighting on the pitch for England as a member of the Lionesses' squad. She also participated in the Great Britain Olympic squad during the 2020 Tokyo Games.
On the international stage for England, Daly has played in two World Cups and one Euros competition. For over a decade, Daly has represented England on one of the sides, either at the youth or senior levels. Her recognition of her time, dedication, and devotion to her country on the pitch has inspired many throughout the country.
Massive accomplishment prior to joining Aston Villa Women
While playing for the Lionesses, Daly's biggest team accomplishment that she was a part of was during England's 2022 Euro win. Sealing the tournament victory at Wembley Stadium, England found a way to Spain, Sweden, and Germany en route to the European trophy.
Being able to switch from forward to left-back, Daly started each match and played a critical part in the Euro win that England will now look to defend this year during the 2025 Euro competition in Switzerland.
The canvas is still wet on Daly's career, as she recently signed an extension with Villa. Already, she has had an incredible run as a player and continues to make supporters proud of her efforts. Looking back, once she has stepped away from the game, Daly will be able to appreciate what she has accomplished with a great sense of pride.
