Aston Villa are finally back in action on Saturday, facing Brentford after the three-week international break. The break came at an awkward time for Unai Emery and his men, who had started to pick up form on the back of a poor start to the season.
Villa won three straight games across all competitions before the break, and they will be hoping to keep that run going here. Brentford, meanwhile, have enjoyed a superb start, still unbeaten and up in fourth in the Premier League.
Ahead of the game, we have rounded up the early injury news surrounding both teams.
Mathias Jensen - Doubt
Jensen is hoping to return from a small injury here.
Josh DaSilva - Fit
DaSilva is expected to be back from a hamstring injury here.
Antoni Milambo - Fit
Milambo will return to contention here having featured in a B team game before the break.
Nathan Collins - Fit
Collins is another one who was close before the break, so it's logical he will be back here.
Sepp van den Berg - Fit
Keith Andrews said before the break: "He’s in a good place to come back after the international break. That’s realistic."
Mikkel Damsgaard - Out
Damsgaard picked up an ankle injury during internaional duty.
Kaye Furo - Out
Andrews said before the break: "Kaye has picked up an injury in the last few days in training. Unfortunately for him, he’s had to have an operation this morning. That’s really frustrating for him. I would’ve started him vs Reading because I felt he deserved it... I'm not sure how long he’s going to be out for."
Dango Ouattara - Doubt
Ouattara has been dealing with a virus, and he will be hoping to shake it off here.
Amadou Onana - Out
Onana is out for the season after rupturing his ACL during the summer.
Ian Maatsen - Out
Emery said of Maatsen's injury: "But the information I have, an ankle injury, it may be a long, long time." It looks like he will be out until some time in November.
Leon Goretzka - Doubt
Goretzka will go down as a doubt for now, given he picked up a knee injury before the break, but he is expected to be very close, if not fit enough to be in contention.
Pau Torres - Doubt
It's hoped the international break has given Torres the time he needs to return from his hamstring issue, but he goes down as a doubt for now.
Marco Bizot - Doubt
Emery said before the break: "Marco felt pain in his back. We decided to change him, and hopefully it’s not a big injury."
Alysson - Doubt
Alysson is hoping to shake off a muscular issue here.
Brian Madjo - Doubt
Madjo has been dealing with an ankle injury over the last month or so, and it was hoped he could return after this break. Let's see.
