Aston Villa are now preparing for their first home game of the season, facing Premier League champions Arsenal on Monday night. Unai Emery's men got off to a crushing start to the season, losing to Brighton and conceding four times in the first half, and the atmosphere around the club feels a little off.

A lot of talent has left Villa Park this summer, and while there has been some spending, it's going to be a big ask for Emery to get this side to take another step forward ahead of a Champions League campaign. But the window is not shut yet, and it looks as though Nicolas Jackson could come in, while Tammy Abraham looks to be on his way out in a surprising loan move.

As for Arsenal, they beat Coventry City comfortably in their first game, while they also won the Community Shield, so they will arrive at Villa Park in confident mood. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both sides ahead of this game.

William Saliba - Out

Saliba is going to be out until November as he slowly works his way back from a back procedure. Arteta has said: "Wilo, obviously not much, he’s in conservative load management right now, so that's going to take a while."

Jurrien Timber - Out

Timber is not quite ready yet as he works his way back from a groin issue, but he is getting closer. Arteta said on Thursday: "Jurrien is progressing really well. Let's see how he ends up this week. It's the third week in a row that he's been outside, and we have increased his load. So he's on the right trajectory. If everything goes well, I think next week we're going to step it up again."

Bruno Guimaraes - Doubt

Guimaraes goes down as a doubt for now, but it looks like he will be available. Arteta has said: "We just managed the last few days with him. He's out on the pitch. He's been doing training sessions. But we need to manage his load to get to Monday in the best possible condition to be able to get selected."

Amadou Onana - Out

Onana was a huge blow for Villa over the summer, suffering a ruptured ACL that will keep him out of action for the whole season.

Joao Gomes (Suspended) - Out

Neves had a forgettable debut, giving away a goal and then getting sent off for kicking out. He will be suspended here.

Johan Manzambi - Out

Manzambi is getting closer, but this one will come too soon. Emery said last week: "Manzambi is starting to work on the field, and maybe he will need two weeks more to join us, more or less."

Brian Madjo - Out

Madjo has a small issue, but he is also going to be out for another week or so. Emery said last week:"Madjo has a small injury, and I think he can get progressively better and start training with us as well, but he may need some days more."

Tammy Abraham - Doubt

Abraham is battling his way back from a groin injury and could return, but he is also being heavily linked with a loan move to Ipswich Town, so he may have already departed.
