In order for any team to win, there needs to be an element of luck or a series of fortunes that favors the winning side. Aston Villa may have seen the single biggest boost that could have taken place in August to aid in their pursuit of a trophy.
As shared on X by Sky Sports News, Crystal Palace will not be able to participate in Europa League this year. They will instead be placed in Conference League.
It was seen, for example, during the past FA Cup semi-final how much of a thorn Palace can be in the side of Villa. Even when the club is not necessarily playing at their best, Palace seemingly has the ability to find a way to step up and give Villa an exceptionally difficult matchup.
This, of course, does not make it so that Villa hoisting the trophy is assured. There will still be other quality options to potentially get in the way of Villa as teams progress through the competition.
Still, knowing already that Villa will not have to face Palace makes things easier from the outset. For a club that is looking to win a piece of silverware, this is highly welcomed news for its supporters as Villa look to break the lengthy dry spell of being without any new silverware additions to the cabinet.
Potential way in which Aston Villa win would be viewed
It will still be a difficult path in the event of Villa making enough progress in Europa League to win the European Trophy. Ultimately hoisting the piece of silverware would remain a tremendous accomplishment. Looking back, only a select skeptical few would even consider placing anything like an asterisk by Villa winning this competition.
Looking ahead, though, it has to be stated that Villa gained a huge help in the continued striving for a trophy.
