Every club will always be on the lookout for an unproven, young gem to add to their squad. In the case of Aston Villa, Sverre Nypan was supposed to be an attacking-minded player who was going to provide a threat toward the opposition goal for many years to come.

Nypan, instead, chose to go to Manchester City. Not a problem, while Villa had spent a considerable amount of effort in attempting to persuade the Norwegian to come to B6, these types of things happen on the business side of the sport.

Villa is now shifting the target transfer priority to someone else. Currently, at Real Betis, Jesús Rodríguez is only 19 and is developing excitement among Villa supporters for his abilities.

To this point, it is a development that is in its infancy stages. Reporter Fabrizio Romano shared that Villa had begun talks looking to acquire the outside player. The appeal of potentially adding Rodríguez is clear.

That is one area of the pitch that could always use an extra body, and being able to potentially bring in someone at his age who already has a high level in terms of skill set would be a welcomed move by the club.

Rodríguez has excelled as a winger while at Real Betis. His speed, dribbling, and killer instinct in the final third play an immense part as to why Villa would want to add him to the squad. Add the fact that Leon Bailey increasingly appears on his way to a different club, and the replacement option of this caliber is something that needs to cross the finish line.

Needed lesson from earlier applies here for Aston Villa

Hopefully for Villa supporters, this time, if the decision-makers at the club truly feel they have the right player and continue to engage in serious interest, they find a way this time to finalize a deal. Nowadays, clubs have to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak.

Waiting or allowing a situation to play out allows others to come in and make a counteroffer. It also would lessen the chance of Villa then being able to bring someone else in, depending on how long the situation gets played out.
