Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa was forced to withdraw from England duty this week after suffering a hamstring injury against Manchester United on Sunday. There is positive news from the injury room, however, as Konsa believes he will be back 'in one or two weeks'.
Following the conclusion of the game, Unai Emery was asked for an update on Konsa's injury status and replied: "I don’t know if it’s a big or small injury”. Hours after the game, Konsa himself posted a picture on his Instagram story of him sitting on the turf and a flexing muscle emoji. It can now be believed that he posted that as a sign that he would be back in action before people thought he might.
It is unknown yet whether the England international will be available for Villa's first game after the international break against Fulham, but he will almost certainly be fit for the Champions League tie with Bologna three days after.
Other injury updates
Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara both played 45 minutes for the Aston Villa under-21 side against Newcastle last weekend. Both are said to have played well and made it through the game without any issues. According to Jacob Tanswell, both played today in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Sheffield Wednesday as they grow nearer to a return to first-team action.
John McGinn is expected to return to action before the end of the month but is unlikely to feature against either Fulham or Bologna on the 19th and 22nd October, respectively. The hamstring injury suffered in the victory over Wolves almost three weeks ago was predicted to rule him out for approximately four-to-six weeks.
Jacob Ramsey had to withdraw in the first half of the game with Bayern Munich and he was "a doubt" for the game against Manchester United. As he didn't play in that game, but was a doubt before hand, it is expected he will be fit for the game away at Fulham in ten days time.
Amadou Onana also missed that game after Emery had said: "He's a doubt, but I think that he will be available because it is not a really serious injury". Again, similar to Ramsey, despite missing the clash with Manchester United it is expected that he will return to the squad against Fulham.
