This is likely to be a difficult summer for Aston Villa fans. Significant players who have come to mean a lot at Villa Park will be forced to leave.
Part of the nature of the business aspect of the sport, though, does allow for some room for excitement. AVFC could be entertaining, for example, a former interest in Ferran Torres. Now at Barcelona, it's known that Unai Emery has previously sought to add the winger to his side.
It would be something of an intriguing fit. Particularly after seeing how quickly Emery has been able to incorporate players like Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford, bringing in someone like Torres would likely pay immediate dividends for Villa.
In terms of the Spaniard's skill set, he can offer a lot for any side's attack. Torres has the needed creativity and vision. This is true in how he moves off the ball and how he can either set up others or create a chance for himself.
Having someone who can produce a big moment from anything is sometimes what's needed. For those who bemoan how the game has shifted too much in a tactical direction, Torres gives something of a statement showing that players aren't completely 'ruined' by the over-analyzation and numbers that are creeping in throughout sports.
Emery would be a good fit for Torres as well. The Villa boss does a good job of balancing the overall needed team approach with how to set up players individually to shine and showcase their talents.
Seeing how Torres plays with his other current teammates and how his production has continued to increase during his stay in the La Liga side, it's hard to not at least consider bringing in a player who, at 25, is only beginning to enter his prime.
Important point of consideration for Aston Villa
The PSR aspect would make something like this a significant hindrance. Even if Villa were able to pull it off, it would likely result in an additional need to sell players at the end of next season.
For AVFC, they are close to being annually in the top four in the Premier League and winning a piece of silverware in any of the other competitions. Making an additional all-in move may cost, but it comes with something of a guarantee of knowing it will work out on the pitch.
