Steven Gerrard was dismissed as Aston Villa head coach following a dismal 3-0 defeat at Fulham on Thursday evening.
A dismal start to the season, which produced a 2-3-6 record–the club’s worst start since 2015-16– culminated in Gerrard’s sacking less than two hours after the Fulham defeat.
On Friday it was confirmed that Gary McAllister, Neil Critchley, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom, and Scott Mason were also relieved of their duties.
"They'll be absolutely massive for us, and hopefully we can put something on the pitch that they can be proud of and they can get behind on Sunday."

Aaron Danks looks ahead to #AVLBRE. 🗣️
Aaron Danks, an assistant coach under Gerrard, will serve as caretaker manager for this weekend’s trip to Brentford.
In an official statement the club said “we would like to thank Steven for his hard work and commitment and wish him well for the future.”
The search for a new manager is well underway. The club were reportedly interested in former Spurs and PSG boss Maurizio Pochettino, but he appears to have rebuffed Villa’s approach.
