Aston Villa’s Premier League match against Southampton set for Friday 16 September is set to go ahead as planned.

All matches across England were postponed last weekend in the wake of Queen Elizabeth’s passing, but most of this weekend’s slate are set to be played.

Villa’s 10 September match at Leicester was affected by the postponements and will be rescheduled for a later date.

Three of the 10 matches originally scheduled for this coming weekend will be postponed due to “events surrounding The Queen’s funeral.” Chelsea vs. Liverpool, Manchester United vs. Leeds United, and Brighton vs. Crystal Palace are the postponed matches.

Villa will look to build off of a well-earned 1-1 draw with Manchester City on 3 September.
