Midfielder Douglas Luiz gave Aston Villa a 1-0 lead in the third minute of an eventual 2-1 loss to Liverpool at home on Tuesday evening.
Luiz took a left-sided cross from Lucas Digne with his head only to be stopped by fellow Brazilian international Alisson, but the Villa man pounced on his own rebound, converting from the mouth of goal to send Villa Park into an early-match frenzy.

Joel Matip equalized for the guests just three minutes later and Sadio Mane fired them into the lead in the 65th minute.
Villa looked a strong side throughout and nearly matched Liverpool’s expected goals output (1.83 to 1.98). In the end, a lack of sharpness in front of goal was the difference.
Villa return to Villa Park on Sunday when they host Crystal Palace at 2:00 pm BST.
