Aston Villa announced on Thursday the signing of defender Calum Chambers from Arsenal.

Chambers joins Villa on a three-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee. He’s the club’s fourth signing in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old spent eight years at Arsenal, making 74 Premier League appearances at right back and center back.

Chambers had loan spells at Middlesbrough (2016-17) and Fulham (2018-19) and was named Player of the Season at the latter.

An experienced England international at the youth level, Chambers made three senior appearances in 2014.

In an interview posted to the club website, Chambers said: “It’s a very exciting place to be and everyone can see that from the outside. Things are happening here and it’s definitely moving in the right direction.

“For me, it was a no-brainer to join a great club. It was the right thing for me to do.”
