Manchester United have been linked with Grealish ever since he flourished in the first few months of the 2019/20 season.

The away trip to Old Trafford in December epitomised United’s need for a creative midfielder to exert their dominance in the final third. Grealish’s goal in that 2-2 draw was spectacular and only increased the speculation linking him with a move north.

A January transfer was never on the cards due to his importance to Villa’s survival, however, a move immediately after the close season has since dwindled following the arrival of Bruno Fernandes.

United’s resurgent form and the emergence of Mason Greenwood have allowed United to grab a Champions League spot, with any starting attacking central role to be filled by the impressive Portuguese star and Paul Pogba.

Any move will be dependant on United’s valuation on the player and whether Ed Woodward will sanction the funds to go for the player, especially as Jadon Sancho remains the number one target.

Arsenal

Arsenal had their odds of a transfer shorten in early August with the club reportedly registering their interest for the star following the conclusion of the Premier League.

Arsenal reportedly failed to make a formal enquiry and will likely rebuff at the quoted price given Mikel Arteta’s alleged budget restraints this year.

The signing of Willian and his quoted wages will further hamper those budget restraints.

However, the 24-year-old will certainly still fit into the first team though and his adaptability in attacking midfield positions will give Arsenal options in the multiple formations they play.

Arsenal’s FA Cup win will present an opportunity to play in Europe next season, albeit in the Europa League.
