Aston Villa: Trézéguet fee agreed, Egyptian winger set to be announced
By Josh Tonti
Mahmoud Hassan, commonly referred to as Trézéguet due to the player’s likeness to the former French great, is on his way to Aston Villa in a deal just south of £10 million.
Aston Villa added their fourth winger to compete with Anwar El Ghazi, Jota, and André Green. The long-rumored Trézéguet is indeed on his way to Villa Park in a deal worth around £8.75 million to Turkish club Kasimpasa.
After two breakthrough seasons in Turkey’s Süper Lig, and three major international tournaments with Egypt, Trézéguet began attracting interest in some of the world’s major top flights. Reportedly, Villa beat out another Premier League club and French side Saint-Étienne for the player’s services.

Further reports say the player will be announced in the following days:
Villa Verdict:
Trézéguet is an electric winger that will have an immediate first-team impact at Aston Villa. His combination of ball control in tight spaces, two-footedness, and acceleration will play in the Premier League. He does not possess elite top-end pace, but Trézéguet is very, very quick off the mark. He is pretty similar to El Ghazi, in that regard.
On Sunday, Trézéguet was named to AFCON 2019 Team of the Tournament as the best left-winger. Like most, he can play on both flanks, but he is better on the left side akin to the aforementioned El Ghazi and Green. That’s not a problem, per se, but it does pose questions regarding the right-wing position.
El Ghazi, Trézéguet, and Green are all better on the left side, whereas Jota is a hybrid playmaker on the right (as opposed to an out-and-out winger). There will be pressure on Frédéric Guilbert to have a good two-way season from the right-back position.
Whether he nabs a starting spot, or is the first attacker off the bench, Trézéguet will have a big role for the Villa this season.
