Aston Villa: Analyzing the 2019/2020 Premier League Fixtures List
By Josh Tonti
The 2019/2020 Premier League fixtures are out! Aston Villa drew Tottenham away during the opening weekend.
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be the venue for Villa’s triumphant return to the Premier League. The UEFA Champions League runners-up will get a close and personal taste of Jack Grealish after the club’s longstanding interest in the Villa captain.
The full Premier League list can be found here.
Villa linked their schedule in graphic format:
Spurs away the opening weekend, while the club host Bournemouth the following weekend. The team has a good chance at capturing points early before an away trip to Manchester City and a home match against Liverpool just eight days apart in early November. The schedule doesn’t let-up, however, as Villa travel to Wolves, Manchester United, and Chelsea, all away in three of the next four games.
A trip to Turf Moor will welcome the new decade, hopefully the roaring twenties in terms of footballing success.
March through May is a daunting challenge as well. Villa go: Leicester (A), Chelsea (H), Wolves (H), Liverpool (A), Manchester United (H), Everton (A), and Arsenal (H) to close out the season. Here’s to hoping we’re not discussing a relegation battle at any point in the year.
First Game: Tottenham (A), 10 August
First Home Game: Bournemouth (H), 17 August
Boxing Day: Norwich City (H), 26 December
New Year’s Day: Burnley (A), 1 January
Final Home Game: Arsenal (H), 9 May
Final Game: West Ham United (A), 17 May
New to the Premier League in 2019/2020 is a mandated winter break in February, where all clubs will be off the weekend between February 8th and the 22nd. There are no FA Cup ties to be played then, either. Nor an international break.
