Can you believe Aston Villa used 5 goalkeepers this season?
The constant merry-go-round between the sticks stalled on an ultimate claimant to the No. 1 position: Jed Steer.
Steer’s near excellence down the stretch, and heroics in the play-off semi-final legs, ensured Aston Villa were led to promotion. From an afterthought in Steve Bruce’s plans, and subsequent loan move to Charlton Athletic (congrats on the promotion, btw. Steer technically went up twice in one season – just like Scott Hogan with Sheffield United), Steer proved himself a viable contender for the starting job back in England’s top flight.
Jed Steer (9/10)
He’ll need to work on navigating crowded penalty areas as well as weak-foot distribution at the next level. But this year, he was near perfect.
