Aston Villa. JED STEER. 6.0. He didn’t make any mistakes, which was exactly what the team needed. Just did his job.. GK

RB. Aston Villa. AHMED ELMOHAMADY. 7.5. “Elmo” was excellent. Exerted a ton of energy in attack but still managed to track back and do his job on the other end. Provided an assist along with a number of quality passes in the final third.

Whiffed on an early opportunity following a corner, but was solid defensively. Put in a good shift in what was probably his last match in an Aston Villa shirt.. CB. Aston Villa. AXEL TUANZEBE. 6.5

TYRONE MINGS. 6.5. Also a solid day with no real glaring errors. Looked his usual calm, collected, but resolute self. Was forced off late with a calf injury following a crucial tackle.. CB. Aston Villa

Aston Villa. NEIL TAYLOR. 7.0. Tied for the team lead in tackles (4), and will not get enough credit for limiting the effectiveness of Harry Wilson. Passing numbers were a bit low by his standard (66.7% accuracy), but the defense was top notch.. LB

5.5. Wasn’t forced to do a ton this match other than stay in position and make the easy pass. He did that well, and didn’t make any glaring mistakes.. CDM. Aston Villa. CONOR HOURIHANE

8.0. Aston Villa’s player of the season played like it. Tied for the team lead in tackles (4), easily covered more ground than any other player, scored what would be the match winning goal (with his head!), and was aggressive the whole match. MotM (Sorry Elmo and El Ghazi). CM. Aston Villa. JOHN MCGINN

JACK GREALISH. 6.0. Admittedly, Jack looked tired. After exerting so much energy in the run-in, this was a player playing on what was left in the bottom of the tank. Earned some fouls in dangerous areas and drew in Derby defenders. Quite an effective decoy, if you will.. CM. Aston Villa

Aston Villa. ANWAR EL GHAZI. 7.5. Probably one of his better performances in a Villa shirt. Scored the opening goal and was a constant threat down the left side. Led Aston Villa in shots (3) and SOG (2). Seemed to be involved in every threatening attack.. LW

This will sound strange, but Tammy did most of his positive work in seeing out the match late, rather than scoring early. Had 2 clearances and 1 nice blocked shot. Had a decent opportunity in the first half but sent the ball over/wide.. CF. Aston Villa. TAMMY ABRAHAM. 6.0

Quietly led the team in pass accuracy (89.5%), albeit short, easy passes. Held up play nicely in order to get Ahmed Elmohamady involved. Didn’t really do anything of note in attack or defense. Very “Adomah-esque” game. Was subbed off for Green in the 72′.. RW. Aston Villa. ALBERT ADOMAH. 5.5
