We will start with the most obvious. Who will play on the RW opposite Anwar El Ghazi? The candidates: Jonathan Kodjia, André Green, and Albert Adomah. Here is the case for each of them:

Jonathan Kodjia: The most prolific goal scorer of the group, who has shown mild success at being able to adapt to being utilized in a position that he is not accustomed to playing. He has been in decent goal-scoring form (2G in last 5 matches, albeit playing some at CF/ST), and has shown a willingness to fight through some bumps and bruises to play.

André Green: Highest upside of the three players in question. When he is “on”, can play some really high quality football. Has found himself in the right place on a number of occasions this season but is just half-a-step away from having a fair tally of goals. Possesses plenty of pace to challenge Derby County’s Ashley Cole on the flank.

Albert Adomah: Probably the best defensive winger of the three players in question, and was crucial in Aston Villa’s playoff push last season. He certainly has plenty of playoff experience which could come in handy during the final. Has been a serviceable winger when called upon under Dean Smith.

Verdict: I’d like to see Green get the nod, as I think this would be a valuable experience for him to step up and showcase his skills. I feel like no other Aston Villa player is on the cusp of a breakthrough like he is, and what better platform than an EFL Championship playoff final?
