What a roller-coaster season it has been for the boys in Claret and Blue. It all culminates this weekend in a muted clash with Norwich City.
A lot of Aston Villa supporters might be viewing this match with an apathetic temperament, and who can blame them? 5th place is locked up. Some key players will not be playing due to injury, yellow card concerns, or just rest in general. The Holte end may not get to sing for the likes of McGinn, Grealish, Mings, Tuanzebe, or Abraham.
I would argue though, that there are still a few players worth monitoring as the game goes on, for a variety of reasons. There are a few players that might see this match as an audition for future playing time with the first team (or even for the club in general). Some players are playing to show that they are fit enough for the playoffs. Then, some players are just playing for the love of the club and it’s supporters.
