Aston Villa vs. Millwall: Predicted Lineup – 04/22/19
By Josh Tonti
Aston Villa will need to deal with Millwall without the services of 25-goal centre-forward Tammy Abraham. Abraham was injured in the club’s 2-0 victory over Bolton on Friday evening.
Another week, another win, and another series of injuries for Aston Villa Football Club. Tammy Abraham was a casualty in what looked like a shoulder dislocation as he scored a diving header in Friday’s match. So too was Axel Tuanzebe, who left in the second-half. With the club all but having secured a place in the EFL Championship play-offs, we could see rotation following Monday’s match with Millwall.
But Villa are going for their 10th win in a row on Monday afternoon, which would be a seriously impressive accomplishment. Dean Smith is likely to stick with much of the XI that earned him a victory three days’ prior – sans the newly injured.
Aston Villa Predicted XI (4-3-3): Steer, Elmohamady, Hause, Mings, Taylor; Whelan, McGinn, Grealish; Adomah, Davis, El Ghazi.
Substitutes: Sarkic, Hutton, Jedinak, Hourihane, Lansbury, Green, Kodjia.

Axel Tuanzebe went off injured against Bolton but his status is currently TBA as of this writing. He had his foot/ankle area examined, which is concerning considering he just returned from a foot fracture. If he can’t go, Kortney Hause, Tyrone Mings and Mile Jedinak are all available at centre-back. So too is Alan Hutton should either fullback need a breather.
Up top, expect Keinan Davis to replace Tammy Abraham. He’s the more like-for-like substitute. Moreover, Jonathan Kodjia recently missed some time with an abdominal injury and might not be 100% match fit. On the wings, two of Albert Adomah, André Green and Anwar El Ghazi should be expected to start once more.
John McGinn will continue in midfield until he receives his next yellow card; at which point, he will then sit out until the play-off semi-finals begin.
Talking Points:
Millwall could be without midfielder Ben Thompson after he departed the club’s previous game with a hamstring strain.
