Aston Villa’s epic comeback away to Rotherham put the club in solid footing re: play-off position. The claret and blues host 6th-place Bristol City on Saturday with just fives games remaining.

With such a short turnaround between matches it remains paramount Aston Villa players maximize recovery. Less than 72 hours separates a ten-man performance in which Villa held off Rotherham, and another match with fellow promotion contenders Bristol City. Not only that, but the Robins played on Tuesday and got the benefit of an extra day.

Will tired legs play a role? Probably. So too will added injuries, but hopefully Villa Park neutralizes some of that advantage.

Centre-back Tyrone Mings is unavailable after being sent-off on Wednesday. In his place will probably be Mile Jedinak again as Kortney Hause missed the last match through injury. James Chester and Tommy Elphick remain out, but are either training or close to a return.

Aston Villa Predicted XI (4-3-3): Steer; Elmohamady, Jedinak, Tuanzebe, Taylor; Hourihane, McGinn, Grealish; El Ghazi, Abraham, Kodjia.

Substitutes: Sarkic, Hutton?/Revan?/Hause?, Whelan, Lansbury, Green, Adomah, Davis.

Lovre Kalinic is where exactly? A bit weird the club continues to pick and choose what injury-related information gets released to the public.

If Hause can’t go I suspect someone from the under-23s will be recalled for the bench – probably Dominic Revan. Alan Hutton could also be an option to serve as an emergency defender, though he just returned to the training pitch. As to who starts on the wing, it really is anyone’s guess; Jonathan Kodjia is definitely deserving after a dominant second-half vs. Rotherham. If he plays on the left any of André Green, Albert Adomah or Anwar El Ghazi could get some burn on the right-wing.
