Let’s update how Aston Villa’s loan contingent have performed.
AM – Callum O’Hare, 20, Carlisle United
Matches: 9 + (0)
Goals: 1
Assists: Plenty
No Aston Villa player has benefited more in their loan move than 20-year-old creator Callum O’Hare. O’Hare starred in Carlisle’s eventual 2-2 draw with Cambridge United on Saturday (more on that below) with two assists. Since February, the player has started nine matches, coming off in just two of them, with a goal to boot. Carlisle sit 8th in England’s fourth-tier and it’s not a stretch to think O’Hare could play in some play-off fixtures.
Went to Carlisle today to watch #avfc pair Callum O'Hare and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy.

In short: both looked bloody good.
Here's a more detailed effort: https://t.co/wV6nec2HCF
FWD – Rushian Hepburn-Murphy, 20, Cambridge United
Matches: 4 + (5)
Goals: 2
Hepburn-Murphy scored on Saturday against O’Hare’s Carlisle. This was his second of the month. He hasn’t started every game for Cambridge, but he’s featured in each once since the beginning of February. For RHM, staying fit and getting consistent run time is paramount.
And so far, he is doing that.
CM – Jake Doyle-Hayes, 20, Cambridge United
Matches: 1 + (1)
Bookings: 1
Conversely, it hasn’t been easy for Jake Doyle-Hayes away on loan. An injury has prevented him from playing more regularly.
RB – James Bree, 21, Ipswich Town
Matches: 8 + (0)
Assists: 1
It’s easy to forget James Bree is still just 21 years old. The crucial development time he’s earning at Ipswich Town will go a long way for this summer’s competition with incoming right-back Frédéric Guilbert.
With Guilbert, Bree, and Elmohamady retained, Villa have turned right-back into one of the club’s future strengths.
CM – Gary Gardner, 26, Birmingham City
Matches: 8 + (0)
Assists: 1
Bookings: 1
Gary Gardner, ever a presence at Birmingham City, is one of the first penciled in for manager Garry Monk. Though, he did miss the club’s 1-0 loss to Villa due to loan regulations.
RW/LW – Corey Taylor, 21, Walsall
Matches: 2 + (4)
Corey Taylor is in the final year of his contract, so a return to Aston Villa remains unlikely. However, he’s featuring for Walsall in hopes that a lower league side will come calling his name.
CF – Scott Hogan, 26, Sheffield United
Matches: 3 + (0)
Assists: 1
Hogan is a reserve option for Blades at this time.
