Chelsea striker and Aston Villa loanee Tammy Abraham has elected to see out the campaign with Aston Villa, in lieu of a loan move to fellow Midlands club Wolves.

This is the news that every Aston Villa supporter wanted to hear today. Not only did the team bring IN a Wolves player (Kortney Hause), but they will now retain the services of a player that was linked to Wolves.

Reports have been flooding in all day from all the big sports news outlets in the UK:

There is also a nice (albeit profane) meme-tweet from Jack Grealish that I invite you all to view. The host of “Likes” and “Retweets” for all of this information is pretty much all you need to know about how Aston Villa fans feel about Tammy Abraham right now.

This is a MASSIVE boost to the club’s chances of promotion, as Tammy has netted 16 times this season, having not even played the first handful of matches in the campaign. Not only does this answer Villa’s question at centre-forward for the remainder of the season, but it allows Dean Smith to continue using Jonathan Kodjia on the left-wing, and then play the likes of Scott Hogan/Keinan Davis in a backup striker role.

Yes, Abraham has nothing left to prove in the Championship, but another temporary move does the 21-year-old no favors. At Wolves he’d compete with Raul Jimenez with fewer matches remaining and still possibly wouldn’t join the club permanently in the summer. At Villa, Abraham can perform under pressure during a promotion chase with more development time and possible playoff matches looming.

Looking forward to watch him (Abraham) celebrate staying at the club by banging in 2 against Wigan on Saturday.
