December has come and gone, and with it a very mixed bag of results for Aston Villa. This month saw the squad pick up points from Middlesbrough and Swansea on the road, drop points from leading positions to West Brom, Leeds, and Preston, as well as rescue points late to Stoke.

Are we in store for another short roller coaster ride in January? Find out on this month’s Aston Villa Points Predictor.

Aston Villa vs Queens Park Rangers

At the time of this articles publishing, this match has already concluded. A 2-2 draw featuring a brace from Tammy Abraham in perhaps his last game as a Villain see the lads sit on 1 point through the first match.

Wigan Athletic vs Aston Villa

Wigan have not won at home since November, and have very much cooled off after their capable run of form to start the season, which included a loss to Villa on the second matchday of the season. This could be Aston Villa’s first game in some time without the services of Tammy Abraham, as reports are swirling about a potential move to former EFL Champions Wolverhampton. Nonetheless, he was not present in the last side that were able to dispatch Wigan 3-2. Villa should be able to score goals against this leaky defense with either Kodjia, Davis, or Hogan at the ST position, even without talisman Jack Grealish. 2-1 here to Villa.

Aston Villa vs Hull City

Hull are quite possibly the hottest team in the Championship right now, having (at the time of this article) recently dispatched league leaders Leeds, as well as participated in a 6-0 thrashing of Bolton. However, they may be without their offensive star Jarrod Bowen by the time of this fixture as well. Too much up in the air for this one to confidently predict an Aston Villa win. I’ll say 2-2 Villa, in the all-too-familiar late game drama of one side scoring after the 85′ to equalize.

Aston Villa vs Ipswich Town

Nobody wants to think about that first match against Ipswich, that saw an almost listless Villa squad go to Ipswich and draw 1-1 with a team that played half the match with 10 men. I predict this will be the first game back for “Super Jack”, and he will come back with a vengeance, assisting twice in a 4-1 rout.

Any unbeaten month is a good month, however, this team need WINS. From here on out this season I think everyone involved will place an expectation that sees points earned every single match, and hopefully January’s unbeaten month is a springboard for more results. UTV.
