James Chester was everywhere for Aston Villa

The hero can claim two points saved. He didn’t have too much to do in the saves department, but Orjan Nyland was very good dealing with back passes in the first-half. Had three poor moments in the second-half dealing with crosses, however.. GK. Aston Villa. ORJAN NYLAND. 8.0

4.0. Very much not good until Swansea substituted Daniel James for Jefferson Montero.. RB. Aston Villa. AHMED ELMOHAMADY

6.0. Has yet to put a wrong foot forward in central defense. There are lapses that haven’t been capitalized on yet, but Bree looks comfortable. He completed 87% of his passes.. RCB. Aston Villa. JAMES BREE

LCB. Aston Villa. JAMES CHESTER. 7.0. Hugely important block in the first-half from James Chester. He was everywhere for Aston Villa when they needed it.

Gets bumped a point for the assist on Hourihane’s winner. Alan Hutton had trouble defending the wing though.. LB. Aston Villa. ALAN HUTTON. 6.0

5.0. Booked early but did a good job staying calm for the remainder of the match. Sat and protected with not much else to speak of. Far better in the second-half than the first.. CDM. Aston Villa. GLENN WHELAN

7.5. Scored Aston Villa’s lone goal with a bullet header. Conor Hourihane completed 98% of his passes with a shot-on-target from a free kick as well.. CM. Aston Villa. CONOR HOURIHANE

6.0. Denied a goal after a brilliant stop from Swansea ‘keeper Erwin Mulder. McGinn put a complete effort forward, even if it was less than superb.. CM. Aston Villa. JOHN MCGINN

5.0. Weird game. El Ghazi wasn’t much of a threat, but he helped relieve pressure with possession while Grealish remains out. He very stupidly conceded a penalty kick that luckily didn’t end up costing the club.. RW. Aston Villa. ANWAR EL GHAZI

TAMMY ABRAHAM. 6.0. Stayed involved considering how non-existent the attack was at times. Aston Villa strikers of years past would be spectators, normally.. CF. Aston Villa

6.0. Lost possession far too much for my liking, but Yannick Bolasie set-up the lone goal.. LW. Aston Villa. YANNICK BOLASIE
