Aston Villa alerted by manager’s comment on prime target
Aston Villa are looking to make a move for one of the best Scottish defenders in January- Scott McKenna. After a last ditch attempt in the summer, they are set to go again!
Aston Villa’s life under new manager Dean Smith has started off pretty well and the 47 year old is giving his all to steer them to the Premier League or at least in contention for the promotion play-offs. But the 47 year old is interested in signing a defender as James Chester and Axel Tuanzebe are the only two natural central defenders in his squad.
As a result, Scott McKenna of Aberdeen is on the radar of the clarets and blues. In fact, they also made a bid for the 22 year old in the summer transfer window but his owners denied it because they had not enough time to sign a replacement to the player. But Derek McInnes, the club’s manager has conceded to the fact that McKenna may leave if interest comes from England.
"“I’m hoping we can keep Scott for as long as possible but I am realistic enough to know that somebody of Scott’s ability is always going to be on the radar,” McInnes admits. “Just about every club in the English Championship and the Premier League have been regular visitors to our games over the last while.”"
The Clarets and Blues are currently 11th in the Championship standings and face Birmingham City at the Villa Park on the next Sunday in the Second City Derby. Having won 3-0 over Bolton Wanderers before the international break, a victory for them would be a huge statement and one which every Villa fan will be raring for.
